Providence Point Wellness Director Named Among Top 5 Wellness Directors in North America
The Pinnacle Award honors those whose achievements and innovations in wellness stand out as extraordinary
PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Dec. 2, 2024) (baptistseniorfamily.org) — Fabiana Cheistwer, the Health & Wellness Director at Providence Point, part of Baptist Senior Family, was named one of the top 5 wellness directors in North America by the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) and NuStep, LLC.
For the first time this year, ICAA and NuStep expanded their Best in Wellness awards to honor the top Wellness Executives and Directors who are not only innovators but also leaders committed to fostering inclusive, vibrant communities where older adults can thrive.
“This year’s recipients embody the future of wellness in senior living,” said Colin Milner, ICAA’s founder and CEO. “Through their dedication and visionary leadership, these communities and individuals are redefining aging, showing us that wellness is a continuous journey—one that energizes and enriches life at every stage.”
Fabiana, who earned the ICAA NuStep Pinnacle Award, has worked in the wellness field for 37 years and received several other accolades through her career, including the ICAA Certificate Leadership in Wellness Management and Foundation for Wellness.
At Providence Point, Fabiana utilizes a model called the “SPICES of Life,” an acronym which guides seniors in pursuing spiritual, physical, intellectual, community, emotional, and social health.
A self-described lifelong learner, Fabiana also leads the use of technology at Providence Point to evaluate the fall risk of seniors depending on their level of acivity and helps recommend measures to lower the risk of falls. In addition, she also began a program this past year called ‘Contemplating End of Life,’ which provides seniors with support, resources, and healthy attitudes surrounding mortality.
“Empowering our residents to be healthy, happy, and fulfilled is our top priority at Providence Point, and that effort is led with excellence by Fabiana and her team,” Timothy L. Myers, Baptist Senior Family CEO & President, said. “We are all very proud of her dedication, ingenuity, and compassion toward each and every resident. She embodies our mission of uplifting one person at a time to everyone we serve.”
Fabi described the prestigious recognition as “an honor, and a testament to my passion, unique credentials, and a four decade-long commitment to educating and celebrating wellness.”
“I am grateful for my outstanding Wellness Team and the unwavering support of our Baptist Senior Family residents, administration, and staff,” Fabi said. “They help me foster a culture of wellness at the heart of all we do and to achieve such recognition from the gold standard organization, The International Council on Active Aging.”
