Centuries of wisdom and decades of research confirm that life is most satisfying when we give of ourselves—volunteering, mentoring, caring for one another, and sharing our abundance. The word “Philanthropy” comes from two Greek terms: phileo meaning love, and anthropos meaning humanity.

Older adults especially understand the value of giving. After all, they’ve given all their lifetimes and still have much to offer. Baptist Homes Foundation believes everyone should live full, purposeful, meaningful lives, and our senior population especially deserves our love, care and respect.

“May you live every day of your life.” –Jonathan Swift

Get Involved

We believe life is best lived when we serve one another. Philanthropy is giving of ourselves to improve the lives of others and our community.

Our residents live generously as volunteers within Providence Point, Baptist Manor and the Pittsburgh community. Each activity is shaped to fit the needs of the recipients and the volunteer. We will match you with opportunities that align with your interests, personality and skills. Some of the projects and organizations our residents have taken part in:

  • Supporting fellow residents
  • The Providence Scholarship Committee
  • The Employee Appreciation Campaign Committee
  • Foundation Advisors
  • Global Links
  • Food Drives
  • Toy Drive for the Boys & Girls Club

Meet the Providence Scholars

The Scholarship Program had its origins in the hearts of two Providence Point residents, Dr. Jan & Jeanette Smith, in 2016. They saw major potential in our stellar dining staff and provided them tangible encouragement to further themselves. Initially the program was open exclusively to dining staff but starting in 2023, we committed to expanding the legacy of the Smiths by extending the program to all eligible staff at both campuses. Today dedicated residents, the Providence Scholarship Committee, oversee and implement the entire process.

THANK YOU for supporting the Providence Scholarship Fund. These are lives you have changed!
